As I sit at my computer just before Christmas and write this article, I cannot help myself. I just can’t stop. I want to look at it again. Why can’t I get it out of my mind? I have work to do . . .
I just can’t stop wanting to look at the Angel Fire Resort webpage! On their webpage is a live webcam at the base of the mountain and I see piles of snow and skiers flying by having the time of their life!!! I keep finding myself dreaming of swooshing down the mountain! To see the beauty of God’s creation as the sun comes up on top of the snow capped mountains. I am dreaming . . .
OK, so the truth is I will be on that mountain the day after Christmas with my family, and I can’t wait! One of the greatest times of my year is when my family is together in one house and enjoying the snow drifts made by millions of snowflakes!!! But does it hurt to dream for now?
Dreams do become reality! For 2010 I want to see some dreams become reality! This year we will be doing some things as a church that are BIG dreams. In April we will be having the GO Rally at the football stadium. It is actually April 11th and 12th. I dream of every person in our area hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ preached clearly, and I dream that many of them will respond to the greatest gift ever given… the gift of eternal life! Do you dream about that too? If you do, then I want to challenge you to begin now to pray for the event and begin inviting people to come with you. That is how it will become reality . . . if we do our part!
Approximately 150 years ago a group of people had a dream to form First Baptist Church of Grandview! What a vision it must have been. I wonder if that small group of people could see the difference this body has made over the past 150 years? How much joy and jubilation they would have. On April 24th and 25th we will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of this church. I dream this will be a time of celebration of what God has done over the years — not a time for us to pat ourselves on the back, but to celebrate God’s goodness and grace! It is going to be a special time as we welcome back former staff members to lead us in worship services throughout the weekend.
As 2010 begins, I have lots of dreams. The main dream I want to become reality is for us to make the name of Jesus famous; for us to realize God is enough and to share Him with the entire community of Grandview before 2011 rolls around. There will be many resolutions made in the coming days. Will you make your resolutions Christ-centered and God honoring? I pray your new year is filled with dreams that become a reality!
Have a blessed New Year!

Word of the Week for December 27th
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are preparing to ring in a new year! I know today will be a great time as we combine both service groups and worship as a family. I pray it will be a blessing and an opportunity to meet someone perhaps you do not already know!
I want to encourage you to make next Sunday's worship time a priority. We will have Rabbi Marty Cohen and Charles Garrett with us to share their Hebrew Scrolls and stories of the ancient oracles, including how they have been scribed and translated over the centuries. Rabbi Marty is a Messianic Jew and pastors the Metroplex Fellowship of Euless while Charles is director of the Christian Heritage Foundation in Cleburne. This will be very interesting and a great way for us to start off the New Year with an emphasis on God's Word!
Happy New Year!

Word of the Week for Dec. 20, 2009
I can’t believe it!!!! Christmas is here! What a great week this will be as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!
I want to remind you about dinner at the church tonight. As a staff we are so blessed to serve alongside such a wonderful group of people, and we want to say “Thank You” by serving you dinner tonight at 6:00 pm. You all do so much for us throughout the year, and this is a small way for us to show our appreciation to you. I hope you can make it!
On Christmas Eve we will be having our Candlelight Lord’s Supper at 6:00 pm. Again what a great opportunity for families to worship together and celebrate the birth of our Savior! I hope you will be here to celebrate with us.
I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thanks for all the kind words about the Christmas tree! I love to decorate, especially with anything “Bright & Shiny.” Speaking of that, we are having a contest to raise $$ for Children’s Camp Kaotik in January. For $1 per guess, you can guess how many ornaments are on the Christmas tree. We will have four prizes . . . one for adults, one for youth, one for older children and one for younger children. And no, we did not count the ornaments when we put them on the tree, so we will have to count them when we take them off. Get your thinking caps on and your dollars ready! Around the church there are forms to fill out and to put with your dollars in the envelopes. Deadline to turn in your guesses is Christmas Eve.
Thank you in advance for supporting our children!

Word of the Week for Dec. 6, 2009
The month of December holds some exciting opportunities for us to fellowship together as a church family. Tonight we will have our annual Hanging of the Greens Service. It will have a little different twist this year, so if you have or have not been before, I hope you will plan on being here to be a part of the fun and excitement as we kick off the Christmas season. The service will begin at 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary!
I hope you will plan on being here!
