I wish I could remember sitting on Santa Claus’ lap when I was a kid. I just don’t remember ever going to the mall and doing it! So now that I am 38 years old, I want to crawl up in Santa’s lap and tell him all I want for Christmas this year! Here it goes . . . (Just so you know — a lot of my list involves you!)
First, I want peace on earth! Am I asking too much already? I don’t think so . . . well, maybe I need to start with peace in Grandview. Here is how I believe peace can come to our earth and to Grandview! We have to tell the world about the Prince of Peace. I want you to mark your calendar for April 11th and 12th, 2010! We are going to be having a citywide crusade, so everyone we know can come and hear about the Prince of Peace with the hope they will realize what Christ has done for them. John Randles is going to come and preach the event, and I believe God is going to do amazing things in our community as a result of our work. In January we will begin community prayer meetings, prayer walks, planning pre-events, designing post-event follow up procedures, and even begin to anticipate the great things God will have in store for us. I “wish” everyone in our community will take part in this exciting event! Start making plans now. Remember to mark your calendar and make those days a priority!
Second, I wish God’s people (me included) would realize the excitement of the New Testament church as written about in the book of Acts and begin living with the urgency of the early believers. The world we live in today is in serious trouble, and we need to stand up and be counted as believers in Jesus Christ. I am concerned that we have placed ourselves in a bubble and watch as the world is moving away from Christ and are not doing enough about it.
Third, I wish as a church family we would realize just how much God hates sin. I am afraid we have become so consumed with Grace that we have lost sight of the fact God absolutely despises sin. I wish believers would realize how we must constantly be seeking to live lives of purity and to be salt and light in a dark world.
Finally, I would like to ask for a shiny new red bike. I don’t think I need training wheels, but if the bike comes with them, I will take it. I would also like to have a little horn on the handle bars.
It is interesting to me that the bike is so much easier to get, yet it is the only item on my wish list which has a financial price tag on it. Financially speaking there is not a price on my first three wishes, but we all know there is a price. Are you willing to step to the register for Jesus?
