Word of the Week for July 27th

It is hard to believe, but it is time to start talking about Christmas!!! Have you heard of Christmas in July? Well that is what we are kicking off today. Our Missions Committee has placed collection boxes in the hallways to begin collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. This is a mission we participate in each year where we send shoe boxes filled with toys and a Bible inside each box for children around the world to enjoy.

Now is a good time to get started, because places like Wal-Mart, Target and Staples have their crayons and markers (and other items for children) on sale at great back to school prices. In the weeks to come we will have more information concerning the Operation Christian Child program in the bulletin and around the church building.

Last year we sent 317 boxes around the world. The Missions Committee has set a goal of 350 boxes this year. That sounds like a lot but what a difference it could make from a Kingdom perspective.

Also, please remember the 33 of us who are in Mississippi this week ministering to the community of Pass Christian. If you want to see what is happening go to www.grandviewfbc.com and Kenneth Pipes will be posting pictures.

Have a great week!
